Generally referred to as The Rainbow Gardens, this area is located just west of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area at the base of Lava Butte, ‘a large black volcanic mountain’. At a mere 2,871' above sea level, Lava Butte is the most prominent point in the area of Rainbow Gardens. On today's visit to Lava Butte and the Rainbow Gardens, Blake and I followed the van from the Rock hounds Henderson's senior center.
