03/14/2012 Trip Notes: On this visit to Valley of Fire, we shared it with my sister Bonnie and her husband Paul. As you can see from the first image (Fig. 01) above, we took a break from our picture taking to enjoy a very nice picnic lunch. This location overlooks the area called Rainbow Vista. The sandstone outcrop below (Fig. 02) was just to the left of our picnic table. As you can see from the next picture facing northwest (Fig. 03), right across the street from our picnic area, the natural colors in the rocks of this park are absolutely amazing. The colors in (Figs. 04-06) leave no doubt as to why this valley area is called “Rainbow Vista”.
