Still Lifes

What is a Still Life A still life is a work of art (painting, picture or photograph) of randomly arranged inanimate subject matter. These are typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, plants, driftwood, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on). In recent years, the production of still life's have often been surprisingly neglected by amateurs and even by art photographers. Today they are most often seen in advertisements. To the photographer, a still-life can be anything from an eye-catching everyday object to something chosen for its intrinsic beauty, whether a figurine or a piece of driftwood. The composition can be anything from the capture of a single object to an elaborate assembly.
